August House has been supplying coldrooms to the retail, industrial, and catering market since 1997 and has kept up with all of the innovations the industry has to offer. Our Projects Director, Ron Walker, has gained almost forty years in the coldroom industry in both the UK and abroad, with many of the major manufacturers in the UK having utilized his skills at some point.
The most notable change in the coldroom industry has been the introduction of PIR (polyisocyanurate). Every domestic lockable coldroom in the UK is manufactured using PU (polyurethane), which having been the staple insulation for the past two decades to the majority of the market, has proved to be an efficient panel insulation. Leading PU, PIR has many of the same characteristics, with the added benefit of superior fire performance.
Today, August House is the only supplier of fully lockable PIR coldrooms in the UK, part of our PIRfect range. This achievement is the result of millions of pounds in investment to ensure we benefit from the most advanced production plant in Europe. All of our coldrooms come with European Standard certification and are built to last. Every panel locks, including the floors and ceilings. Other companies can do this, but not with PIR.
As our PIRfect coldrooms come with a fire certificate, they could very well have a positive effect on your insurance premiums. The real bonus is that PIR doesn't cost any more than PU, it is readily available and is CFC and HCF-C free with zero ozone depletion potential.
"The Hilton Hotel Group was our first client to use PIRfect coldrooms at their flagship Hilton Wembley. With a suite of fourteen coldrooms, they stand today as the most advanced in the UK," says Stephen Walker, August House's Managing Director.
