Despite advances in the past decade, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth are still at high risk for preventable negative outcomes.
Eugene, OR (PRWEB) October 10, 2012
The Prevention Researcher, has introduced a new collection of articles which focus on topics of concern for professionals who work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth. The article pack provides resources for supporting LGBT youth into a healthy adulthood within family, school, and community environments.
“Despite advances in the past decade, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth are still at high risk for preventable negative outcomes,” says Steven Ungerleider, PhD., founding editor of The Prevention Researcher. “Prevention requires creating supportive environments for LGBT youth which both eliminate the negative and stressful events, while also providing youth with protective factors to be resilient.”
Professionals in schools and a variety of other organizations can select the article pack to keep up-to-date on relevant, practical research and programs that they can put to work with LGBT youth. The eight articles included in the new pack are:
“Promising Strategies for Prevention of the Bullying of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth” by Joe Kosciw, Ph.D. et al.
“Contradictions and Complexities in the Lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth” by Stephen T. Russell, Ph.D.
