While bankruptcy filings were down last year, they still remain high over the last several years as consumers continue to struggle with tough economic conditions. The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin is now meeting with consumers to help them understand how bankruptcy may be able to offer some debt-relief options in this difficult economy.
According to the U.S. Courts, bankruptcy filings have been rising over the last few years, showing that consumers are still struggling to make ends meet. In 2008, total filings were at 1,115,594. The next year, they rose to 1,472,155, and in 2010, they rose again to 1,592,669.
In 2011, bankruptcy filings began to drop, with the year ending with total filings of 1,410,653.
Though filings have declined, they are still up considerably since 2008, and many consumers are still struggling to manage overwhelming debts in the face of job losses, underemployment, foreclosure, divorce, and more.
“We understand that these continue to be tough times for many consumers, and bankruptcy may be able to offer a solution for debt relief,” said Eileen Bornstein, a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Consumer and Business Bankruptcy Law at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin.
Bornstein is offering free initial consultations with consumers to determine if bankruptcy may be the right solution for them.
