Cohab, a non-profit coworking space located in downtown Shreveport, La., will host the first-ever Shreveport-Bossier Startup Weekend, Oct. 26-28, 2012. Startup Weekend invites anyone in the community, regardless of their area of expertise, to join a team and create a brand-new business over the course of a single weekend.
During the event, strangers will be introduced, share business ideas, and team up to take the best ideas from concept to marketable business plan. Teams will present their businesses to a panel of area business experts who will critique the ideas and name one group Startup Weekend’s winning team. The winning team will receive a prize package full of all the tools entrepreneurs need to make a new business successful.
Shreveport-Bossier Startup Weekend will feature two guest speakers: area entrepreneur Linda Biernacki, President of Fire Tech Systems, Inc., will share her entrepreneurial story on Friday, Oct. 26. Stewart Hamel, Managing Principal of Hamel Interests and the Vice Chairman of Cohab’s Board of Directors, will present the top 20 questions that venture capitalists ask before investing in new businesses on Saturday, Oct. 27.
