Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Southern New Hampshire University’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students.
(PRWEB) October 03, 2012
Victory Media, Inc., the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) to the coveted Military Friendly Schools® list. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Southern New Hampshire University’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, director for “G.I. Jobs” and vice president at Victory Media. “As interest in education grows, we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”
The Military Friendly Schools ® media and website, found at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, feature the list, interactive tools and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences. The 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience.
"Being named one of the top military friendly schools in America is a high honor indeed,” said Gary Pounder, Major, USAF (Ret), director of military initiatives at SNHU. “I believe it's a reflection of what SNHU has to offer the military community as well as the student support we provide, from the soldier taking his first college course to the senior NCO or officer completing a second graduate degree.”
Southern New Hampshire University has an 80-year tradition of providing accessible, affordable education for military students, with a generous transfer credit policy and consideration for military training and experience. Additionally, SNHU meets the need for affordable education for active duty service members with a tuition discount of approximately 30 percent for online undergraduate courses and, beginning with the January 2013 term, a discount of 25 percent for online graduate-level courses. These discounted tuition rates are also available at SNHU’s five regional centers in Nashua, Manchester, Portsmouth and Salem, N.H., and Brunswick, M.E.
A full story and detailed list of 2013 Military Friendly Schools® will be highlighted in the annual “G.I. Jobs Guide to Military Friendly Schools®,” distributed in print and digital format to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October. The Guide and associated media will also be featured at the Carrier Classic college basketball game on Nov. 9, anchored by a playoff between The Ohio State University and Marquette University on the deck of the USS Yorktown. Both participating schools are on this year’s list of Military Friendly Schools®.
