1105 Government Information Group announces the rebranding of their flagship government trade platforms Federal Computer Week (FCW) and Government Computer News (GCN).

1105 Government Information Group today announced that they will unveil the rebranding and repositioning of their flagship government trade platforms Federal Computer Week (FCW) and Government Computer News (GCN) this October.

The brands, which will be renamed solely by their acronyms, FCW and GCN, will feature a more focused editorial mission and an optimized online experience. FCW and GCN have served as the trusted voice in government technology and policy for more than 25 years. The brands' evolution will answer government’s call to deliver more customized information and in-depth analysis of trending technologies and industry issues through print, online, tablet and mobile devices.

“GCN and FCW address two different and distinct markets—the broad public sector market of IT professionals (GCN) and the smaller, but very influential, sector of federal technology executives (FCW). Together, they represent the largest buying-sector of technology in the U.S.,” said Jennifer Weiss, Senior Vice President and Group Publisher for FCW and GCN. “When used in combination, the new brands offer advertisers complete coverage of both markets and the entire U.S. public sector technology universe.”

According to Weiss, readers and advertisers can expect much more from the revamped platforms than a new look and feel. FCW will hone its focus on federal executives and program managers. The brand’s editorial content will feature more in-depth analysis and commentary on federal policies, procurement and technologies. GCN will broaden its lens to encompass IT professionals across the public sector, adding the K-12 and higher education market to its roster. This will make GCN the only brand of its kind that reaches the full scope of technology decision-makers in public sector IT – federal, state and local government, as well as education (FED/SLED).

“FCW tackles the broader management, budget, strategy and workforce issues, all in a technology context that federal C-level executives and program managers must know to stay current,” said Anne A. Armstrong, President and Chief Content Officer at 1105 Government Information Group. “GCN, in contrast, focuses on technology, tools and tactics. Its content will be organized around the six technology pillars most prevalent in public sector today—data center transformation, cloud computing, cybersecurity, mobile, big data and emerging technology.”

According to the 1105 Government IT Buying Study, government IT buyers rely on a variety of media sources to help them make informed purchasing decisions. As such, FCW and GCN’s rebranding efforts will encompass a full suite of products, including optimized websites, tailored conferences and marketing services.

FCW and GCN remain the premier media platforms in government technology and both brands continue to thrive. Year-to-date, each magazine has seen a 10% increase in ad pages and a corresponding increase in digital business. Website traffic and in-person event attendance has grown by more than 30%. And in its 2012 Federal Study, Market Connections ranked FCW and GCN the #1 and #2 publications read by IT buyers across the key technology categories.

FCW and GCN will launch their new websites on Monday, October 15, 2012. Readers will experience the newly designed publications mid October when the printed issues arrive in offices across the country.
