Miami, FL (PRWEB) October 08, 2012

The first annual Miami Street Photography Festival (MSPF) will showcase the work of emerging street photographers and provide an educational platform through lectures, workshops, portfolio reviews and guided photowalks. We seek to elevate Miami as a center for photography, with special emphasis on the ever-growing genre of “street” photography. This international event will take place December 7-9, 2012 during the height of Art Basel, at Kike San Martin Studios, 2045 NW 1st Ave., in Wynwood, Miami’s vibrant art district.

Street photographers use their keen sense of observation to capture compelling candid moments in the everyday life of strangers, whether it be a gesture, facial expression, action or scene. Their method reflects reality and documents society. There is no set-up involved, no manipulation of the scene and very little or no post-processing of the image.

All photographers are invited to submit their street images for selection by jury in to the three-day exhibition. A schedule of complimentary activities and featured events, as well as “HOW TO ENTER” can be found at http://www.miamistreetphotographyfestival.org. The deadline for entry is October 21, 2012.

World-renowned Magnum photographer, Alex Webb, will be featured, along with author and photographer, Rebecca Norris Webb and National Geographic’s Maggie Steber. Mr. Webb is conducting an all-day masterclass on Sunday, December 9th, as well as a slide show presentation on Saturday evening. An Evening with Maggie Steber is the highlight of the opening night reception on Friday, December 7, 2012.

The Miami Street Photography Club is organizing and hosting the festival. The club was founded in 2011 by Juan Jose Reyes as a means for street photographers to network with others interested in this specific genre, and as an educational tool for furthering their craft. The Miami Street Photography Festival (MSPF©) was incorporated in 2012 as a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization.
