One of Nevada’s oldest and largest credit unions raises awareness about identity theft while giving back to the community by hosting its second free, community-wide shred event.

“We are very happy to offer this free event for our community. When you securely dispose of your sensitive documents, the risk of identity theft decreases dramatically.”

The Community Shred Day will be held on Thursday October 11, 2012 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Sunrise branch located at 1292 S. Nellis Blvd., Suite C, Las Vegas, NV 89142.

Assured Document Destruction will be on-site to safely and properly dispose of personal paper documents. In addition, One Nevada Credit Union has partnered with the local nonprofit organization Street Teens to collect donations. Items requested include: pop-top food items including Chef Boyardee, chili, tuna, pork and beans, granola bars, and other easy snacks.

This free event helps save participants money in a still troubled economy, where shredding services can cost about $.75 per pound. Members and nonmembers are encouraged to bring up to three boxes or bags of personal documents for shredding. No boxes or containers of any kind may be left behind. All attendees are required to remain with their items; no dropping off of items is allowed.

One Nevada Branch Manager Rebecca Albrecht comments, “We are very happy to offer this free event for our community. When you securely dispose of your sensitive documents, the risk of identity theft decreases dramatically.”
