In this book, she reveals everything that she has been through within that journey—her experiences, difficulties, trials and tribulations, and how she finds her way to a better life. She never thought that one day she would leave her homeland and move to America—to Iowa, a place she calls home. What she has written is the true story of tragedy and achievement.

About the Author
Ziska Paden Hasanic was born in Bosnia and had lived there for 16 years. After they were forced to leave their home in 1992, she moved from place to place hoping to find a place to call a home. She spent a year living in Croatia in a refugee camp with her mother and close to 2,000 other refugees. In fall of 1993, she moved to Germany with her mother and had lived there until war was over. In 1997, she got married. Her husband and she moved from Germany to America. They barely knew any English. It was difficult, but after a year, they were able to speak, read, and write English. She obtained college degree in accounting. She is very thankful for all the great things that she learned and experienced in this great country. She has two beautiful children, Azra and Ajdin. Iowa is everything she wished for. She feels blessed that she does not have to worry about her safety or being disrespected because her name is different. Her life has been hard, moving from place to place and leaving friends, family, and memories behind. She looks forward to a better future. She hopes everyone gets what he or she dreams of. She is proud to call herself an American.
