Nicole has just lost a husband in a car accident. She mourns and goes to Nigeria to attend his burial in the traditional African culture of the Eleme village. Little does she know, her husband is a king. After her husband’s death, his brother Douglas who has lustful desires on her becomes the king of their village and this is where the conflict in her life begins and it is written in a book titled For the Love of Nicole by Cyril Amakihe.

In Nigeria, they initiate her with the rite of widowhood. She is beginning to be introduced to the culture of the African people and their mourning rituals over her dead husband. She is restricted from associating with any other man except her brother-in-law “King” Douglas.

The tribal group of Eleme village to which her husband belongs provides rules that she should strictly follow. If she infringes any of the rules, she will pay a fine of $500 or a six month extension of her mourning period whichever is greater. She is even prohibited from inheriting her husband’s property. It now belongs to her brother-in-law Douglas. It is a tradition that she can’t do anything about. By custom she is now required to remain here in the village and mourn her husband for at least one year before going back to the United States.

Douglas is the king, the custodian and enforcer of the village tradition. Ironically, he disrespects the same tradition. He is ready to break the law, to use the opportunity of his wife, Jennifer’s absence from home to explore the sweetness and softness of Nicole’s body. He is such a selfish, aggressive and dominating person who cares only for himself.

This entertaining novel exposes readers into a world of corruption and emotional blackmail perpetuated by powerful characters whose lustful intentions and greed for power are eating the very core of a rich cultural tradition that is being practiced by a country for so many years.

Furthermore, this book also shows readers how a woman’s passion to help the needy leads her to betray her husband in order to get the things she wants to accomplish for a poor community that needs her assistance.
