Delta laser press boosts Strouse's capabilities

The laser is one more piece of equipment that allows us to remain state of the art in regards to both technology and capabilities - Mark Cheatham, Director of Engineering

Strouse has installed a brand new Delta Mod-Tech web converting press further expanding an impressive set of capabilities we already offer. The machine has great flexibility with the ability to laser cut, laminate, die cut, slit, and create roll or sheeted parts - all from one press.

“The machine combines the servo rotary die cutting capabilities of a Delta with the benefits of a ‘tool free’ galvo-laser cutting machine” says Mark Cheatham, Director of Engineering. “The laser is one more piece of equipment that allows us to remain state of the art in regards to both technology and capabilities.”

Laser cutting utilizes software to create the dimensions for a part. With endless design capabilities this press is able to efficiently produce an extremely accurate product. By programming each necessary dimension required for a specific part the press is able to make the most difficult cuts in a fraction of a second. The Delta Edge 300 watt laser technology can cut through polymers, papers, adhesives, organics, and composites in a variety of ways including perforates, kiss-cuts, and thru-cuts. The greater the wattage the more powerful the laser, the deeper it can cut, and the quicker you can process a part.

This press will become a great asset to Strouse for many reasons, says Brian Holz, Director of Operations. The Delta “allows Strouse to perform shorter runs with quick job changeover.” This dramatically reduces set-up time which is a big contributor to cost. A laser module that cuts to specified dimensions also ensures minimal waste of materials as we strive to be an environmentally friendly organization.
