Santa Fe, New Mexico (PRWEB) October 06, 2012

Southwest CARE Center, the region’s largest and most advanced center for the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, invites the community to join them at the 24th Annual AID & Comfort Gala on Saturday, November 17th, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the Hilton Golf Resort and Spa at Buffalo Thunder. Tickets are $50. This event is featured on Santa Fe's premier on-line magazine and visitor guide, SantaFe.com

This is the twenty-fourth year for the organization’s most important fundraiser heralded as one of Santa Fe’s liveliest and best party. The theme for this year’s event is “The World of Burlesque”. Our honorary co-chairs this year are Armistead Maupin and Christopher Turner. The Mistress of Ceremonies will be Donna Sachet who has been hailed as the “Queen of the Castro”. Austin Head direct from Phoenix, Arizona will be our Gala DJ. There will be dancing until 2:00 am. Our headlining performer is Ms. FRENCHIE DAVIS. Frenchie was a finalist on NBC’s the VOICE, a Grammy nominee, Broadway Star & American Idol Diva. Burlesque Noir from Albuquerque will be providing the evening burlesque entertainment. A silent auction and lavish buffet will also round off the evening’s festivities. A “Celebrity Meet and Greet” will also take place. Ticket information is forthcoming. Cocktail or burlesque costume attire encouraged.

The Celebrity Chef Dinner will be held on Friday, November 16 at 7:00 pm at La Posada de Santa Fe. Tickets are $200 for this event which includes full course dinner prepared by Santa Fe's top chefs. There will be a live auction. Cocktail or burlesque costume attire also encouraged.

Proceeds from this event benefit the AID & Comfort Fund, which provides care and services (including life-saving medications) that are not otherwise covered by insurance or other programs to over 600 people living with HIV/AIDS in New Mexico. Despite all of the advances made in treating HIV/AIDS, the need is still critical. New HIV infections in New Mexico rose 20% between 2005 and 2009. While medical and drug advances have made it possible to live much longer, those drugs are expensive. The AID & Comfort Fund ensures that everyone who needs the drugs and other treatments that make HIV/AIDS manageable can have access to them, regardless of their ability to pay. This is especially critical as federal and state funds have been cut.
