Orange, California (PRWEB) October 09, 2012
The Chicago Tribune reports that Aon Hewitt released new research indicating yet another hike in group health insurance costs for 2013.
2012 saw the lowest group health care costs increases in six years. In 2011, the rates increased a whopping 8.5%, but in 2012, it was the lowest increase at 4.9.
2013, however, will see costs increase an average of 6.3% nationally. This translates to about $11,188 per employee - making group health insurance costs not much better than private health care coverage.
Many Americans opt for group coverage with the idea that they can’t afford individual coverage, but with increases not slowing in 2013, as Aon Hewitt reports, HealthCompare, a nationally recognized health insurance comparison site, says health insurance consumers should be armed with knowledge instead of assumptions when buying health insurance.
By researching their options, as the face of health care coverage changes with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the possibility of the changing of the president to a new candidate who doesn’t support it, consumers need to stay on top of the types and prices of policies that are available to them.
Using their knowledge of their medical history, their own medical preferences (like which doctors they are willing to see and which ones they are not) and the types of policies available to them, health insurance shoppers can look for the cheapest rates available at health insurance comparison sites like HealthCompare.
Rather than assuming the coverage they get at work is the cheapest option available to them, shopping for new possibilities could save hundreds of dollars in the face of yet another price increase in 2013.
