“God is kind and meets people where they are,” Pastor Sun says. “He put it on my heart to create a production company that would produce movies to reach those who might not be ready to formally come to church.”
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 08, 2012
Strong Foundation Films, a film production company that is creating and distributing full-length, faith-based motion pictures, gave Hollywood a run for its money last week with the release of its first feature film, The Prophet’s Son, grossing over $14,000 per screen, in it’s limited theater release.
Pastor Sun Hui East, a well-known Denver-based minister, is creating movies to use as visual sermons to reach movie-goers nationwide. “The movies are modern day parables,” Pastor Sun says. “The idea of telling stories in film harkens back to the way Jesus communicated when He was on earth. Jesus used parables – stories that had messages for people to learn about God's truths.”
The current church filmmaking wave that’s causing Hollywood studios to sit up and take notice, caught on at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The church’s associate pastors (who also happen to be brothers), Alex and Stephen Kendrick, have created and produced numerous faith-based feature films. These national releases include hits like, Facing the Giants and Courageous, and have gone on to become some of the highest-grossing independent films at the box office.
Following this trend, Strong Foundation Films is creating a series of its own faith-based movies that will appeal to people from all walks of life who deal with everyday issues and concerns. Believers and non-believers alike will take something away from their content. “God is kind and meets people where they are,” Pastor Sun says. “He put it on my heart to create a production company that would produce movies to reach those who might not be ready to formally come to church.”
On the heels of its success with The Prophet's Son, Strong Foundation Films will be releasing its next film, In Over My Head, later this year. In Over My Head’s Nathan Edwards believes he is entitled to live the way he wants, as far removed as possible from his father’s business. But when tragedy strikes, he is forced to give up his plans and has to make a life-changing choice. Watch the In Over My Head trailer at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0dNYujHsWw
Strong Foundation Films will be distributed independently via theater rentals, online downloads, DVDs and Christian TV. For more information on Strong Foundation Films and to see a movie release schedule, please visit: http://www.StrongFoundationFilms.com.
