Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 08, 2012
James D. Masterman, a shareholder in the Boston office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been named 2013 “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in America in Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law.
According to the Best Lawyers website, only one lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is recognized as a “Lawyer of the Year.” The designations, first published by Best Lawyers in 2009, are based on particularly high voting averages during the peer-review assessment conducted with thousands of lawyers each year.
Masterman is a trial lawyer with a broad range of experience in eminent domain and real estate valuation litigation, including tax proceedings and lease arbitrations, and in the litigation of land use and property rights issues. His representation of commercial, industrial and residential property owners and developers requires his appearance in U.S. District Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, every state and administrative court of Massachusetts, and throughout New England. His advice is also sought by multi-property clients on a national basis on all aspects of eminent domain. Masterman served as chair of the American Bar Association's Committee of Condemnation, Zoning and Land Use Litigation and is a frequent lecturer and writer on eminent domain and valuation, his articles appearing in many legal and trade publications.
Attorneys designated as “Lawyers of the Year” are part of the larger 2013 Best Lawyers in America edition. The current edition of Best Lawyers lists 363 Greenberg Traurig attorneys, more than any other firm listed in the publication. Inclusion in the 2013 edition is based on more than 4.3 million detailed and confidential evaluations of the legal abilities of lawyers by their peers, according the publisher.
Greenberg Traurig, LLP is an international, full-service law firm with approximately 1750 attorneys serving clients from 35 offices in the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In the U.S., the firm has more offices than any other among the Top 10 on The National Law Journal's 2012 NLJ 250. For additional information, please visit http://www.gtlaw.com.
