UK families are facing a rise in their energy bills that could cost them an extra £118 this year, according to EnergyLine.com. The energy comparison service estimates that British consumers will spend an extra £3bn on this year’s energy, despite gas use falling in the last couple of years and electricity usage remaining constant. The estimation comes following more of the market’s best value tariffs are withdrawn.
Now, the best value tariff on offer is Npower’s Energy Online October 2013. Costing £1,064 a year the tariff has a guaranteed rate remaining at least 3% below the firm’s standard rate until the end of next October.
A spokesperson from Cost.co.uk shares her thoughts on the subject:
“The latest figures from EnergyLine aren’t good news for many British homeowners. Even with the best value tariff on offer today from Npower there can be disadvantages such as penalty fees for leaving early. However, the figures do reiterate the importance of conducting research by comparing services and costs in an effort to save money.”
