Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 09, 2012
On October 8, 2012, co-hosts Lee Kantor and Stone Payton welcomed to the studio a panel to discuss the city of Dunwoody, Georgia and the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce. BusinessRadioX®'s High Velocity Radio featured Debbie Fuse, Executive Director of the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce, Katie Bishop, Executive Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody, and Michael Starling, Director of Economic Development for the City of Dunwoody.
Fuse describes Dunwoody, Georgia as a well-situated, vibrant, fun place to live, work, and visit, that is different from any other place in the Metro Atlanta region. There’s something about its convenient lifestyle that draws young singles, established professionals, growing families, and empty-nesters to create a thriving community.
Explains Fuse, "To accommodate the future growth of Dunwoody, the city is working to incorporate the latest thinking on how the physical space of the community is created, focusing efforts on enhancements to livability and creating a unique sense of place." These concepts include mixed-use development, transit-oriented development, smart growth, and green building design.
Bishop, with the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody, describes working in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, in addition to being a member. "We are the marketing and promotional arm of Dunwoody," explains Bishop. The City of Dunwoody was established just a few years ago, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau is funded by the City's hotel tax. Bishop's primary goal is to bring business to the city and its five hotels.
Focusing on the economic development of Dunwoody, Starling is responsible for leading the City’s efforts to expand the local economy through business development efforts. His priorities for the City include retention of existing businesses, recruitment of new firms, and the redevelopment of existing commercial areas.
According to Starling, "Dunwoody was fortunate to have a Chamber of Commerce founded at the same time as the City to offer guidance in the needs of the business community and the benefits of local businesses to homeowners." He further explains that the Chamber has been instrumental in guiding the development of city ordinances so that business can operate in harmony with the residential community.
