Dot & Eva’s Oven will be at the 2012 TASTE Philadelphia Festival of Food, Wine and Spirits, unveiling their signature Cranberry Pecan Fruit Cake to all Philadelphia food-lovers. For the first time, this unique Cranberry Pecan Fruit Cake will be on hand so that the people of Philadelphia can see why the fruit cake has earned the catchphrase: “it’s not what you expect.”

“Getting out and introducing people to our fruit cake is a very rewarding experience and we expect to meet some nice people in Philadelphia with a sweet tooth,” said owner and head baker Joseph Lane. He encourages Philadelphia foodies to stop by the Dot & Eva’s Oven’s booth at the TASTE Philadelphia Festival of Food, Wine and Spirits to taste the fruit cake. Even if they don’t buy the cake on the spot, he says many people sign up for a sweepstakes at the event to win a fruit cake if they join the email list. Dot & Eva’s Oven also has a sweepstakes on their Facebook Page with a winner announced every month.

Dot & Eva’s Oven boasts an extraordinary fruit cake, with an extraordinary history. Although the bakery launched in the last year, the Cranberry Pecan Fruit Cake is made with a family recipe that dates back to before the Civil War, the golden age of fruit cake. With lemons, cherries, cranberries, pineapple and pecans, this traditional fruit cake is a testament to how much love and care American families of yesteryear put into baking.

“As a child, eating the fruit cake was one of the highlights of the holiday season. I couldn’t get enough. After my mother Eva passed away, I took over the mantle so to speak,” he said. “I got rave reviews when I gave away the fruit cake as a gift. I soon recognized that there were no truly excellent fruit cakes available anymore, so I opened Dot & Eva’s Oven to offer these special fruit cakes online to all takers. It is well worth the effort. I only have to take a bite or talk to a happy customer to remind myself how this is a labor of love.“

The Philadelphia food festival runs from Friday, October 12th to Sunday, October 14th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks. Dot & Eva’s Oven now makes these amazing fruit cakes available for mail order online. Along with buying the fruit cake online, you can Like Dot & Eva’s Facebook Page and enter their monthly sweepstakes.
