College-Prep Kicking Academy has joined as a National Camp Series (NCS) Associate according to NCS founder Michael Husted and Lance Ortega, President and Director of Programs of the College-Prep Kicking Academy.
College-Prep Kicking Academy has a long history in coaching kicking specialists.
“We began with annual kicking camps back in 1995,” says Ortega. “In the early 2000’s we offered weekly year-round instruction (we’re in San Diego, we’re lucky that way) and quickly identified that the more we saw a student-athlete and their family the easier we could identify and meet their needs. Guiding the family to the right college choice(s) became an interpersonal and rewarding endeavor. It became our primary goal.”
Ortega continues, “We further found that unsubsidized year-round training was cost-prohibitive, unrealistic, and unaffordable for all but a handful of families. So we made a big shift in how we help families and became a 501c3 nonprofit right around 2005-2006. We could now use public and private funding to make the cost of annual training reasonable and accessible.”
Ortega says Husted and NCS came along right around the same time they became a nonprofit.
“By partnering with NCS from the beginning, we feel we have an unrivaled system in place to hand-deliver any dedicated, committed student-athlete and their family from high school to college,” says Ortega.
Husted, who kicked in the NFL for nine years, founded the National Camp Series and is currently a kicking coach, says he is happy to have College-Prep Kicking Academy as an Associate.
“NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country,” says Husted. “NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country. Having College-Prep Kicking Academy as an NCS Associate will just continue this tradition as it continues to deepen our wealth of expert kicking coaches across the country.”
Husted says 2012 has shaped up to be the best year yet for the National Camp Series.
“After a strong 2011, and having introduced our Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, we are positioned extremely well to leverage analytics to showcase our athletes, and to provide ‘objective high school kicking specialists statistics' to college and university coaches.”
Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes. By sorting through six years of historical event data, the KIX system determines a kicker’s rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.
"The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry,” says Husted. “If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialist’s skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."
