A new documentary film, entitled Discretion and Faith which delves into Global Infidelity On a Personal and Communal Level is launching a fundraising campaign!
“Does it happen to everyone? How could I be such a smart person, yet be completely blind and dumb?” asks Michael LaPointe, director of Discretion and Faith. After experiencing his own affair, LaPointe spent time searching for answers. In order to help him cope with the loss of his first love, LaPointe began to record and film conversations with adulterers and victims of infidelity. At first he encountered a very hushed community. However, once adulterers began to open up and discuss their affairs, their once secretive actions ignited a tell all phenomenon. Adulterers, in front of a camera, began to knowing tell the details of their infidelity in much more significant specifics than they ever told their cuckold spouses. In psychological terms, the camera became a confidante. Which begs the question, what are the socials laws that govern this peculiar behavior of once someone in the community begins to divulge their secrets, the rest of the community follows?
Within the filming of the feature length documentary with the full title Discretion and Faith: The Global Cultures of Infidelity, the phenomenon opened up a detailed dialogue about adultery and relationships from adulterers within all corners of the world.
“I thought this would be something to really investigate; the relationships of men and women throughout the world. How do they compare, and contrast? And is it just a mindset? Or are there true differences between our cultures? Thus started the extremely long journey of documenting their stories, and maybe finding closure for mine,” states Director Michael LaPointe. Among the subjects interviewing are adulterers, cuckolded spouses, sexologists, and marriage counselors from many countries to include, but not limited to, Russia, Japan, England, Nigeria, France, India, and Brazil. This film will offer an in-depth examination of the global perspectives, opinions, and views about sexuality and commitment. It will also seek to understand the who, what, and why of adultery on a global scale. The film includes statistical data that more accurately reflects or paints a picture of the true situation of infidelity around the world.
The producers will be raising production funds through Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/889010276/help-us-film-our-global-infidelity-documentary) which launched on October 9, 2012. Raising $5K will allow LaPointe to interview remaining subjects from different countries. During the campaign, the producers will reach out to counseling centers and the community to discuss and share Discretion and Faith, to broaden people’s understanding of relationships. Additionally, interviews and the making of “Discretion and Faith” experience will be shared through updates.
According to LaPointe, who helms Pointe Media, a pioneering company that garnered numerous accolades and clients through the years, the “Discretion and Faith” documentary will also delve into the personal lives of adulterers and victims to get their thoughts and feelings on the act and what happened to them.
