Peugeot will be displaying the exciting new 208 GTi at the Paris Motor Show this September.

The new GTi production model builds on the success of the 208 supermini launched earlier this year.

The GTi version features a raft of sporty tweaks, promising fans a thrilling driving experience invoking memories of the legendary 205 GTi.

The new car will take centre stage at Peugeot’s stand at the Paris Motor Show, running from 29th September to 14th October.

The 208 GTi is due for release in the UK in early 2013, but diehard fans can get up close and personal with its stunning new features at Mondial de l’Automobile.

Peugeot has packed the new model with a series of interior and exterior upgrades, designed to deliver desirability, performance and exhilaration expected from a class-leading supermini.

Visual tweaks include new wheel arches, side wing extensions and body sills. The headlights beam out with the curvy shape of a feline eye, with LED technology ensuring this isn’t just a gimmick, but a futuristic innovation right at the front of the car, set off against a black gloss grille.
Inside, the car combines comfort with couture, its dark colour scheme, embellished with red, creating a striking, eye-catching identity.

And that’s just how it looks. Performance-wise, the 208 GTi delivers everything a modern drive needs: including a tailored driving position for comfort and visual clarity, an attractive, detailed handbrake, and gear lever in easy reach.

Underneath, Peugeot has revised its steering settings for a far firmer driving experience. Brand new suspension, bespoke to the 208 GTi offers complete precision.

Other exciting features include air-cooled brakes, and a 1.6-litre TGP 200bhp petrol engine with 275Nm maximum torque. It takes less than seven seconds to go from 0 to 62mph, but emits CO2 at only 145g/km. This incredible feat is down in part to its comparatively light weight, which also helps to boost performance.

The announcement of the Peugeot 208 GTi follows the recent successful launch of the Peugeot 208, in June this year.
