Having had the opportunity to offer the procedure during ‘National Eye Health Week’, we are considering purchasing a DRS camera so we can incorporate the service, as standard, in our practice, as part of our existing eye exam.

Haag-Streit UK, the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, loaned a DRS mydriatic retinal camera to HB Opticians, in Ponteland, Newcastle to enhance their service during ‘National Eye Health Week’.

Hazel Bough, Owner of HB Opticians, was approached by HS-UK Area Sales Manager, Angela Masson to see if she would like to offer her customers an enhanced retinal photographic service for ‘National Eye Health Week’, which commenced on 17th September.

The DRS is a fully-automated retinal camera which has an easy-to-use intuitive touch screen. It offers automatic (or manual) acquisition of the posterior and anterior segment, providing alignment throughout the live image.

Angela commented, “The DRS was the perfect piece of equipment to loan for ‘National Eye Health Week’ as it is fully-automated so little operator training is required. The camera automatically senses the patient, self-aligns to the target eye, focuses the retina, adjusts the flash level and captures the image in less than 30 seconds. Because no pupil dilation is required, the procedure is quick and easy to incorporate into a routine eye exam.”

The loan of the DRS camera enabled Hazel to capture a fundus image during every eye test. When asked about the loan, Hazel said, “Having the DRS camera was a great addition to our service. Customers who have come in for a routine eye test have received added value in the form of a free fundus photograph which can help lead to the early diagnosis of diabetes, glaucoma and other health conditions.”

Hazel continued, “Having had the opportunity to offer the procedure during ‘National Eye Health Week’, we are considering purchasing a DRS camera so we can incorporate the service, as standard, in our practice, as part of our existing eye exam.”

The DRS camera is available from HS-UK for £9,995* or from as little as £9.08 per day if you take advantage of finance options on offer**.
