BikePortland.org analyzes Designed to Move: A Physical Activity Action Agenda, a report that predicts bicycle transportation could decrease physical inactivity. Linus Bike Sales Manager Jason Latty offers a response.

On October 15th, commuter bikes manufacturer Linus Bike commends an article published by BikePortland.org promoting bicycle transportation, urging that it can prevent physical inactivity.

According to BikePortland.org, the report, entitled Designed to Move: A Physical Activity Action Agenda, credits bicycle transportation as a “key solution” to fighting physical inactivity. Designed to Move was compiled by the American College of Sports Medicine, Nike Inc. and the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education stating, “After detailing the huge economic and health-related costs of growing rates of physical inactivity around the world, the report contains two ‘Asks’: 1) Create Early Positive Experiences for Children and 2) Integrate Physical Activity Into Everyday Life.”

BikePortland.org reports that Designed to Move displays persuasive images and captivating viewpoints which may encourage individuals to start cycling. According to Jason Latty, Sales Manager for the environmentally friendly commuter bikes manufacturer Linus Bike, “I’m hopeful that studies like these will inspire people to choose cycling as their number one mode of transportation. According to BikePortland.org, Designed to Move consists of various infographics, statistics and valuable facts that reveal the decline of physical activity and ways in which cycling can help. In addition, the article explains the “policy considerations” section of the report which supports safety measures including bicycle parking located near all transportation hubs, traffic-calmed streets, and a “zero tolerance” for “unsafe or uncomfortable” conditions for any group not limited to women.
