Enterprise storage features at mid-tier prices

“Over the past 3 years Silicon Mechanics’ business has grown significantly, allowing us to navigate the economic downturn, and build a platform for further growth,” said Eva Cherry, president and CEO of Silicon Mechanics.

Silicon Mechanics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of rackmount servers, storage, and high-performance computing hardware, announces that it is now in the top tiers of reseller of NexentaStor, the industry-standard, software-only, open architecture, hardware-agnostic storage solution, which provides enterprise storage features at mid-tier prices.

As a reseller of NexentaStor, Silicon Mechanics can help customers save 70 to 80 percent compared to expensive, vertically integrated, proprietary storage technologies. NexentaStor is a fully featured NAS/SAN software platform with capabilities that meet and exceed those of legacy storage systems. It always scales further and more cost effectively, and does not force customers to replace entire systems as drive and IO technologies evolve over time.

Running on industry standard hardware, NexentaStor helps organizations implement high-performance, yet cost-effective data storage solutions with features such as inline deduplication, unlimited snapshots and cloning, unlimited file size, and high-availability support. In addition, NexentaStor functionality includes full integration with virtualization approaches, even in mixed vendor environments. This solution can create shared pools of storage from any combination of storage hardware, including SSDs, and delivers end-to-end data integrity, integrated search, and inline virus scanning. NexentaStor also enables efficient one-click virtual machine and other storage provisioning.

“Over the past 3 years Silicon Mechanics’ business has grown significantly, allowing us to navigate the economic downturn, and build a platform for further growth,” said Eva Cherry, president and CEO of Silicon Mechanics. “Over the next six months to a year, we will be investing in expanding our solutions business, with primary focus on HPC and storage. Our ‘Expert Included’ focus will be on designing and delivering the best solutions to meet our customers’ growing needs, and NexentaStor will help us provide customers with a better long-term investment as storage needs increase.”

We’re very pleased to add Silicon Mechanics to our roster of top tier resellers,” said Evan Powell, CEO of Nexenta. “Silicon Mechanics is well known in High-Performance Computing and Storage markets, and has a great team. We’re looking forward to work with them.”
