The 2012 Pink Ribbon Classic golf tournament benefiting the American Cancer Society raised over $100,000. The American Cancer Society supports cancer research, champions cancer awareness and directs fundraising efforts to support these aims. The shotgun-style event featured 120 female golfers.
Ted Hall, anchor at 11Alive News (WXIA-TV Atlanta) opened the tournament by sharing his son’s cancer survival story. Winner of the 2009 Open Championship, Atlanta resident and pro golfer Stewart Cink, kicked off the tournament with the opening drive. Former Atlanta Braves catcher and River Club resident Javier Lopez provided the long drives at the ninth hole.
