Kevin McMurtrie’s new children’s book “Have You Seen My Duck?” (published by Trafford Publishing) was inspired by the storytelling his young sons insist on whenever they’re in long car trips or getting ready for bed.

Have You Seen My Duck?” is the story of a boy’s quest to find his friend, and how he uses his imagination to do it. Unable to find his duck, the boy uses subtle clues from the pond’s other inhabitants to finally reunite with his friend.

An excerpt from “Have You Seen My Duck?”:

“I went down to the pond to look for my duck
I looked all around without any luck
He normally stays by that bunch of tall reeds
That’s where he swims and that’s where he feeds.”

“Designed for a younger audience,” McMurtrie says, “this book has an easy-to-read format. The rhymes are intended to keep a young reader interested, while the length of the book accomplishes the same feat. Cute illustrations also keep children involved in the story.”

McMurtrie knows his book will find readers. In addition to his own sons’ interest, he says, “There’s a child inside all of us that want to talk to animals. And when you believe in something, you just need to follow through with it because in the end, you’ll get what you want.”
