Brightstar Corp., the world’s largest specialized wireless distribution company and leader in services for the wireless industry, announced that Maria Menacho, Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility & Special Projects, has been tapped as a member of the board for CTIA -The Wireless Foundation.

In this role, Maria will help drive the Foundation’s efforts to use wireless technology to enhance safety and improve quality of life. Some of the past Foundation initiatives include:

  •     text4baby - a free service to help mothers care for their health and give their babies the best possible start.
  •     Text 2HELP - enabling citizens to make donations to the American RedCross via text message.

Maria joins Sally Lange, Senior Vice President, in representing Brightstar in some of the nation's top industry associations. Sally is a board member for the Wireless Division of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the industry authority on market research and forecasts; consumer surveys; legislative and regulatory news; engineering standards; training resources and more.

She also co-leads the organization of Executive Women in Wireless, and helped create the Green Working Group of CEA in 2008, focused on raising awareness about sustainability, recycling and environmental practices.
