Canton, OH (PRWEB) October 17, 2012

Young Joseph arrives at the small university town where he’ll spend the next four years after traveling more than 6,000 miles. This new novel features 17-year-old Joseph’s journey from his first days at college and academic success to confronting racism by fellow students. The foreign student’s life is enriched by a close friend, Wendy, whose dedication earns his trust, when others seek to abandon him.

“My Last Summer with You: No Fanfare for a Withered Rose” begins when Joseph, now decades removed from his college days, receives an unexpected phone call from a college acquaintance. It seems he’s now got a controlling share in a multi-million dollar corporation. Told through flashbacks, Joseph’s story highlights his college friendship with Wendy, a beautiful girl with a kind heart, who takes him under her wing even as her friends ridicule her. A budding relationship with another beautiful girl adds love to the lonely immigrant’s life, but can it last as students – and disapproving family members – express their concern?

This is the first novel for author Fidelis Mkparu, who immigrated to the United States in 1977 from Nigeria. He majored in biochemistry and biophysics as an undergraduate and won scholarships to attend medical school. This devoted family man has a private cardiology practice.
