Red Comet announced that a key course required for graduating from Washington State high schools is now available as part of its self-paced online curriculum. The Washington State History course covers the early history of the state through its development to the present day.
Upon completion of this course, students will have a comprehensive knowledge of the geography, climate, history, economy, and government of Washington State, covering such topics as early settlement of Washington, statehood, the main industries, the six major geographic regions and the various climates found throughout the state. As part of this self-paced online learning, students will understand the national, state, and local government structures, including the powers of the state and national governments, the checks and balances system, and the different branches of government. They will appreciate how cultures and cultural groups contributed to the cultural and economic development of Washington State. The course explores the past and recent events in Washington State History and their effects on current issues. Causal factors that shaped major events in Washington State are also evaluated and discussed. Students will come to appreciate how technology and business ideas have impacted Washington State’s economic growth and prosperity. Students will learn about the individuals and movements that have shaped Washington State.
“The course was very well-organized. The topics were broken down nicely and the material was presented in small chunks that I could easily digest. The numerous practice tests helped me prepare for the final tests. The pictures and videos that were provided made the subject matter interesting”, said one student who took the Washington State History course. “When we moved to Washington State from Texas, little did we anticipate that our eldest son would come this close to missing his graduation. We thought he had all the credits to graduate on time and then in the final semester, his academic counselor informed us that he could not graduate because he had not taken the Washington State History course. Our counselor then referred us to Red Comet online program and that finally saved us. Our son loved the course and he was finally able to graduate with his class!” exclaimed a parent who had relocated to Washington State.
“What we found is that many schools do not offer this course during every semester. Students who missed this course when it was offered at school often have no other option but to take this course online. We found that students missed this course for various reasons – including health, part-time work, athletics, or relocation. We also find students taking this course for credit recovery, where they had previously failed this course at school”, said Ms. Sapna Ganeshan, President of Red Comet.
“Once we launched this course, there was an overwhelming response from both the students and school administrators. Students and parents were glad that they had the option to take this self-paced course online anytime during the year. School administrators are pleased that Red Comet courses help their students graduate on-time”, said Dr. Jay Srinivasan, Managing Director of Red Comet.
