Leavitt’s Auto Care has announced that they are now accepting appointments for fall tune ups.
An automotive tune up is basic preventive maintenance for a car. It could be compared to an annual physical for a person. During a tune up, mechanics will check several parts of the car and replace or clean them, including the spark plugs, air filter, and distributor caps. An in-depth tune up will also include checks and possible changes of the PCV valve, fuel filter, oxygen sensor, and spark plug wires.
Mechanics will also take the opportunity during the tune up to make brief checks of some of the car’s other systems, such as the fluid levels and the brakes. If further repairs are required, the mechanic can inform the car’s owner and arrange for repairs before the malfunctions cause expensive damage to the car.
The parts checked in a tune up may seem minor, but malfunctions in these parts can cause chain reactions of systems failure which lead to costly repairs in the future. Tune ups help keep a car in its best shape and prevent breakdowns. They also help fuel economy by making sure the car runs efficiently. Regular tune ups can keep even older cars in good working condition for many miles.
