According to American Tinnitus Association there are fifty million people with tinnitus, a subjective noise that they can hear, but is generated inside their heads. No one else can hear this sound, and currently there is no method of recording it.
However some ten million persons suffer from this constant sound. Some are told to simply live with it. Some are placed on sedatives and anxiety medications. Some fall prey to the internet ads of “miracle ear drops” and “miracle cures.”
Research has shown that a “whole body approach” to this problem, using factors such as cognition – where the body learns that the sound is not a “danger,” doing simple actions that reduce stress, introducing sounds that displace the inner ear sounds; these actions can amend the symptoms of ringing in the ear.
Recent research has shown that simple changes in behavior, can correct the symptoms.
