Helen Keller once said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” Author Annabelle Love-Whitinger, in her children’s book “Learning Adventures of Toby Brown: A Collection of Short Stories” (published by Trafford Publishing) – illustrated by Juan Pablo Cruz – focuses on teaching young readers the importance of understanding and respecting their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.
While working as a day care teacher for many years, Love-Whitinger loved reading storybooks to children. But when she had gone through the entire collection in the library, she began crafting her own stories to share with the children. Now she has gathered all of her stories in a colorfully illustrated children’s book.
In “Learning Adventures of Toby Brown” young readers will follow a boy named Toby on many adventures and stories. In each of these stories, in which Toby experiences such emotions as fear, joy, excitement, and more, children will learn important lessons about manners, personal care, respect for their bodies, respect for the feelings of others, and respect for their elders.
Love-Whitinger hopes readers – parents and children – will love learning the lessons delivered in “Learning Adventures of Toby Brown.” “All of these adventures are what we have all experienced in our lifetime and help us to understand the importance of how they developed in our lives,” she says. “We are all learning these same things every day, each of us in our own way, and we always will.”
