“Discouragement is a thief and killer...it begins as a disappointment or a little bad news but grows until it controls you. It affects your ability to eat, think, sleep, pray or associate with others,” explains the author.

In Jan Grace’s new self-help book “The Power of Encouragement: How to encourage yourself and others” (published by WestBow Press), Grace looks to the Bible to help readers realize the importance and power of encouragement.

“Discouragement is a thief and killer...it begins as a disappointment or a little bad news but grows until it controls you. It affects your ability to eat, think, sleep, pray or associate with others,” explains the author.

Through “The Power of Encouragement”, Grace shows how everyone encounters moments of disappointment and sadness. He looks at passages in the Bible that help the reader see that even Jesus and his apostles fell prey to these paralyzing instances.

But through the written word, he sheds light on how they each overcame those instances and moved on with the help of encouraging words from their peers. He uses these passages and stories from the bible to set-up a step-by-step encouragement help guide to brighten and move anyone who has fallen into a rut.

An excerpt from “The Power if Encouragement”:

The promise is to those who have poured themselves into the lives of others. Check out 2 Cor. 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you.” As you read through the Pauline Epistles, you’ll discover there is an encouraging word for every aspect of life: spiritually, mentally, physically, financially, and socially (getting along with others). And since the Lord has given you His promises, made known His will for your life, as you share that with others, you’ll see faith, hope, and encouragement rise up in their lives, sustaining them through every trial and testing.
