I was so worried about being judged and looked at differently but I was awakened out of my sleep with the pressure to just do it. And I did.

Inspired by her own successes, and driven by a need to help other young adults succeed as she has, author Dr. Erica Pooler presents her new book “The Cards of Life: When all Hope is Gone, Trust then Believe” (published by Trafford Publishing).

“The Cards of Life” describes a little girl who struggled her entire life with problems beyond her control, one bad situation after another. She was faced with homelessness, abuse, fights, teenage pregnancy, death and drugs. One day she chooses to not be a victim of her environment and to not blame her failures on her lack a parental support, money or all the bad things that happened. With the help of a few great people, she learns to tap into the hidden potential that was inside all along, using her past as a reason to defy the odds and succeed beyond her wildest dreams.

Pooler says about “The Cards of Life”:

“This book has always been on my heart. As a professional who works with at risk youth, teachers, and administrators, they never would think that I struggled through school and life as I did. People who did know my story would always say ‘you inspire me’ or ‘you should tell your story.’ I was so worried about being judged and looked at differently but I was awakened out of my sleep with the pressure to just do it. And I did.”

Pooler’s message is one of hope and perseverance, and she believes that her narrative will inspire her readers to realize that the force for change they’re desperately looking for is already present inside them.
