Delta, B.C. (PRWEB) November 01, 2012
One in seven men will contract prostate cancer in his lifetime, according to Prostate Cancer Canada. The only way to improve those odds is through research and education, and that is why Santevia Water Systems is working with the Vancouver Prostate Centre (VPC) to launch its inaugural "Movember" campaign this November.
"It's good having support for prostate cancer awareness — the more money raised the faster researchers will find a cure, and that's what it's all about," said Sharla DeFrane, associate director donor relations at the VPC.
Santevia, a Delta, B.C.-based company specializing in filtered, mineralized and alkaline water products, has put together an "Alkaline On-the-Mo'" bundle and a portion of sale proceeds will go towards prostate research.
"Our company is founded on four core values, which include health and giving back," said Mike McLean, president of Santevia Water Systems.
"Movember is a great opportunity for Santevia to exercise these core values in a tangible way and do our part in trying to eliminate this disease."
The campaign — an extension of the Santevia Gives Back Program that focuses on philanthropic projects supporting community events, children and clean drinking water — will run until Nov. 30. People can check its progress through both the Santevia Facebook page and the Vancouver General Hospital & UBC Hospital Foundation website.
