Pulitzer Winner Ann Telnaes Takes On the Issues In The Sprint To The Finish

As the presidential race nears the finish, POTUS Pick gives voters the chance to see, hear and interact with the candidates as they comment on a variety of issues, including some not addressed in the campaign such as climate change, marriage equality and government transparency. POTUS Pick is the first editorial cartoon app and it was created by Pulitzer Prize winner, Ann Telnaes.

Telnaes produced POTUS Pick with the Cartoonist Group. Telnaes created 24 original animation sequences for POTUS Pick. Users experience and navigate among the sequences using a combination of touching, dragging and shaking their devices. The segments address healthcare, women’s reproductive freedom, the auto industry bailout, drones, campaign finance and more. Telnaes notes “A whole section is devoted to flip-flops.” Plus, the app includes links to the Cartoonist Group’s 1,800+ cartoons about the 2012 election.

About Ann Telnaes: Ann Telnaes is a Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist (2001) who now creates animated cartoons for the Washington Post. Telnaes attended California Institute of the Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in character animation. Before beginning her career as an editorial cartoonist, Telnaes worked for several years as a designer for Walt Disney Imagineering. She has also animated and designed for various studios in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Taiwan. Her television and radio appearances include: - The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, C-Span, NPR, BBC radio, Sirius Radio, The Editors, World Affairs Television, Canada.
