Today, RaiseAChild.US announced the official photographer of its Fall 2012 campaign—Ballerini Cooley Studios. The non-profit organization encourages LGBT people to build their families through fostering and adoption through media campaigns that put images of LGBT families into public spaces through PSAs, print media and outdoor advertising.
Bill Ballerini, co-owner of the photo studio explains why the partnership is a priority for him. “This campaign builds families—it puts forward the smiling faces of real families that have come together through the foster care system. We are proud to help further this cause.”
This mother-son team has built and sustained a professional photography studio over 37 years. Kathy Cooley, who parlayed her experience as a model in the 1970s into a full-service photography business, raised her young son in and around the studio. “He absorbed every aspect of the business, from lighting, composition, styling to customer service. Little Billy is now Bill—and he has brought our business into the internet age.” She feels close to the RaiseAChild.US project. “Seeing these kids with their new families warms my heart and just reminds me of the value of family. We are excited to bring our services to this effort.” No stranger to the powerful love of adoption, Kathy adopted her youngest daughter from the Ohio foster care system.
John Ireland, Media Director & Co-founder of RaiseAChild.US, explains how this partnership is essential to the campaign’s success. “We are rolling out our outdoor advertising in major media markets across the U.S. The images that Ballerini Cooley Studios has produced bring warmth, love and commitment front and center. These foster and adoptive families are the real deal—and the portraits are gorgeous. They will definitely help us to recruit families for the other children who desperately need safe and loving homes.”
RaiseAChild.US campaigns recruit and support prospective LGBT parents while putting images of LGBT families into public spaces through PSAs, print media and outdoor advertising. Over the past 18 months, RaiseAChild.US has run three campaigns in Los Angeles, engaging over 500 prospective parents, with 400 attending recruitment events.
