Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 01, 2012
Homelessness is an issue that affects almost every community in the United States. As a result of the economic turmoil the country has faced over the past years, the community of South Florida has seen a high increase in the amount of homeless citizens. Looking to contribute to a local cause, crowdfunding platform EarlyShares.com, headquartered in Miami, in conjunction with City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, will be hosting a community service day to support Chapman Partnership, a partner of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust. The event will take place on November 3rd and the EarlyShares team, along with prominent personalities of the community, will serve lunch to Chapman residents. Additionally, EarlyShares is launching a campaign on its subsidiary website, http://www.HelpersUnite.com to raise charitable funds for Chapman Partnership initiatives.
The charitable campaign, dubbed “Empowering the Homeless”, intends to create awareness of this issue within the Miami community, inform people of the amazing programs the Chapman Partnership has to offer, and raise the necessary funds to contribute to the expansion efforts of Chapman. The donations made to the “Empowering the Homeless” campaign on HelpersUnite, will enable Chapman to provide its comprehensive services including health and dental care, case management, day care, job development and training, job placement and permanent housing assistance. EarlyShares will contribute the first $1000 donation to the campaign and is urging the rest of the community to chip in. HelpersUnite will not be taking any operating fees from this campaign.
Many factors contribute to homelessness, from the job market to family illnesses and injuries. Depression, stigma, and poor access to health and dental care, poor sleep and nutrition all take their toll. “A feeling of helplessness sets in, so we help our residents address these factors simultaneously – providing enough structure and resources in their lives to end the cycle and damaging effects of homelessness” says Daniel Vincent, Executive Director of Chapman Partnership.
“In these difficult times it is important to understand that spikes in unemployment, massive home foreclosures and drastic cuts in government budgets have put more and more people on the brink of homelessness, or falling into homelessness” says City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and Raquel Regalado, who is expected to attend the Community Service day at Chapman Partnership. Also attending will be lifelong resident of the Miami-Dade County School Board District 6, Raquel Regalado, who will extend her support on behalf of the City and the School Board. Both authorities have celebrated the great efforts of Chapman Partnership, a cause dear to their hearts.
The HelpersUnite platform is a subsidiary of EarlyShares. Both sites are examples of new types of fundraising platforms that are quickly gaining recognition for their ability to harness the power of community giving. “Our platform helps connect champions of all worthy causes with passionate supporters devoted to making a difference in the world” says Stephen Temes, Founder & Chairman of EarlyShares. By launching the “Empowering the Homeless” campaign, EarlyShares is asking the community to come together for those less fortunate and help them get back on track. Donations of any amount can be made starting for as little as $10.
