Element Payment Services, Inc., a recognized industry leader in PCI DSS compliant payment processing and Marathon Data Systems, a leading provider of software and marketing solutions for field services companies announce an extension of their partnership which will provide fully integrated, PCI DSS compliant processing solutions to ServiceCEO customers.

Credit card fraud is a significant problem for merchants. In recent years, the compromise of credit card and personal information has cost major retailers hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and compensation to customers. According to the 2011 U.S. Cost of a Data Breach report, compiled by The Ponemon Institute, the average cost of a data breach in the U.S. in 2011 was an astounding $5.5 million or $194 per compromised card record.

Marathon Data Systems selected Element as its processing partner for its ServiceCEO Web Edition because the company wanted a solution that completely removed the transmission and storage of cardholder data from both their software application and customers’ point of sale systems. “Because thieves continue to find ways to hack into point of sale (POS) systems and steal confidential cardholder information even from PCI DSS compliant merchants, it is critical that we utilized a solution that enabled our merchants to process payments in a simple and transparent way that did not involve the storing, processing or transmitting of credit card information. This partnership provides ServiceCEO customers with the most secure credit card processing available and is another example of key functionality that we continue to add to our applications to keep them at the industry forefront,” says Chris Sullens, CEO of Marathon Data Systems.

Marathon Data Systems integrated Element’s TransForm® payment processing solutions into ServiceCEO, which include Hosted Payments and tokenization technology which allow software providers to remain out of scope of the PA-DSS/PCI DSS compliance requirements and dramatically reduces the effort and cost of PCI compliance for merchants.

Element TransForm® is built on a simple idea--remove the value and accessibility of cardholder data and eliminate the risk. Cardholder data is encrypted immediately upon entry and remains protected as it travels to the payment processor. Element TransForm® also features tokenization technology to allow merchants to securely access card data for future transactions. “Element TransForm® allows ServiceCEO merchants to reduce the cost, risk and liability of handling cardholder data and streamlines the process of meeting PCI compliance mandates,” explains Sean Kramer, president and CEO of Element.
