Leading provider of intuitive software solutions to the mining and exploration industry, MICROMINE, has signed a joint Academic Agreement with the Ministry of Education of Uzbekistan and Tashkent State Technical University.
With a history dating back to 1920 and recognized as offering some of the most relevant, industry-based courses in Tashkent, Tashkent State Technical University has undertaken this partnership with MICROMINE to endorse the use of its mine design solution, Micromine, for teaching and research purposes at the university.
Micromine is the company’s premier mine design software solution, which allows for the capture, management and interpretation of critical mining and exploration data. Particular focus will be on Micromine’s Geographical Information System (GIS) capabilities. With GIS having been identified as an important tool for the exploration and data management activities of mining companies, it will form a pivotal component of the course.
Commenting on the Academic Agreement, MICROMINE Russia Regional Manager Boris Kurtsev says, “We are very passionate about our role as a partner to this world-class educational institution. The functionality and user-friendliness of Micromine has become its trademark, and will prove to be a tremendous research and teaching resource for faculty, staff and students.”
The Academic Agreement will be officially launched by university management, representatives from the Ministry of Higher and Special Secondary Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives from MICROMINE.
MICROMINE has extensive involvement with International university programs. Most recently, the company’s UK office initiated a Student Bursary (scholarship) Programme with the University of Leicester, England.
