On November 5, Colle Farmers Market responds to an article published by The Taipei Times which reports that the Greater Kaohsiung Area is expanding on agricultural research by implementing an organic farming education system in its organic farming community. Colle Farmers Market applauds Greater Kaohsiung’s effort to expand the education of its organic farming community.
The Taipei Times reports that of 13 agricultural product certification facilities authorized by Greater Kaohsiung’s Council of Agriculture, 12 are for granting organic certifications. According to the article, 2,514 farmer households have received organic farming certification.
Station director Huang Shyan-Liang commented to The Taipei Times that, “the key point of successful organic farming lies in the recognition and application of organic farming techniques, so the station included a variety of topics in the training courses, ranging from theories to practical techniques, such as the future prospects of organic farming, soil and environment management, microbe-fertilizer application and pest prevention techniques.”
