Lorna Kleidman, Kettlebells Fitness Instructor, Comments on an Article Regarding Technology and Weight Loss

Creator of KettleX and Three Time Kettlebell World Champion Lorna Kleidman comments on an article published by the Detroit Free Press regarding the use of technology to manage weight loss, diet and fitness.

On November 5, Lorna Kleidman, creator of the popular kettlebells program KettleX, responds to an article published by the Detroit Free Press which provides a review on technology products that assist in daily management of diet, weight loss and fitness. Kleidman comments on the use of technology for weight loss and offers insight to weight loss management.

Detroit Free Press writer Michael Felberbaum reviewed technology products that managed accountability factors for individual weight loss including apps, heart monitors, wristband watches and digital scales. Felberbaum explains that he documented his progress with different pieces of technology during his work out and states, “While recording my food and exercise choices became part of my daily routine, tracking my progress helped motivate me to stay on track to getting in better shape.”

The article reports that Felberbaum used the MyFitnessPal app to record his eating habits. According to Felberbaum, “The app will project your weight in five weeks and tell you whether you're eating too few or too many calories on any given day. You can even connect with friends and relatives who also are using the service to help keep you even more accountable and get ideas of different foods to try or activities to do.”

Felberbaum commented on technology assistance positively stating, “You can see how you compare to your personal goals and recommended health zones.” When speaking about the Withings WiFi Body Scale, Felberbaum stated, “You can have the scale automatically share your data with other online health coaching programs, or post results to a blog, Facebook or Twitter. There are no subscription fees.”

According to Lorna Kleidman, creator of the kettlebells workout program KettleX, “It’s wonderful to know that this kind of technology is available for anyone who needs assistance or encouragement while completing a diet or exercise regimen. It’s also an exciting way to track your progress. In addition to these tips, I recommend workout classes.
