Owner and president Madelyn Alfano and her mother Maria create fundraiser for their hometown in the spirit of community

Maria’s Italian Kitchen will be hosting a weeklong fundraiser at all ten of its restaurants with profits going to the Hoboken Museum, according to owner and president Madelyn Alfano. Maria’s Italian Kitchen restaurants will be donating all of the proceeds of their Hoboken Marinara and Meatsauce Spaghetti Dinners to the Museum.

“My whole family comes from Hoboken, and we just want help them get back on their feet after being hit by hurricane Sandy,” said Alfano. “It’s a tradition of Italian neighborhoods, and in particular the restaurants, to help out in times of need, and we’re just happy that we can be of some assistance to our hometown.”

The fundraiser begins today, Friday November 2nd, and goes through November 8th. The restaurants have to goal of raising $25,000, which will be sent to our local American Red Cross, specifically for the Hoboken New Jersey Disaster Relief fund immediately following the fundraiser.

This is not the first time Maria’s Italian Kitchen has kicked in to help after a disaster. In the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, the company lost two restaurants due to damage and fire from the earthquake, yet they were still able to feed hundreds of nearby residents displaced by the disaster.

Maria’s Italian Kitchen is a family-owned and operated collection of 10 restaurants located throughout the Los Angeles area.

ABOUT MARIAS ITALIAN KITCHEN - Each Maria's Italian Kitchen is a direct descendant of the Alfano family's take-out kitchen that Maria Alfano opened in 1975 featuring Napolitano family recipes. In 1985, Maria's daughter, Madelyn Alfano followed in her footsteps and opened the first table-service Maria's Italian Kitchen in Sherman Oaks. Madelyn ultimately expanded the successful concept to nine more locations, and still personally supervises the kitchens and oversees all the restaurants. To this day, Maria's Italian Kitchen is proud to be a family-run operation.
