According to a AllFacebook report Facebook’s oldest user record has been beaten with a 105 year old New Mexico women taking the crown. Samuel Junghenn founder of Digital Marketing Agency Think Big Online says this is proof that Facebook transcends generations.
“You really know that something is successful when it transcends generations and Facebook is now being put into that realm. It’s great to see users of all ages embracing the platform and using it to connect with friends, family and associates.” Said Mr Junghenn.
The previous record for the oldest recorded user on Facebook was held by a 101-year-old woman from Menlo Park Calif. This record was surpassed this week when Maria Colunia Segura-Metzgar from New Mexico was found to be using Facebook to keep in touch with her children and grandchildren.
Her grandson Anthony Segura talked about his grandmother’s use of Facebook:
“I tried to sign her up on Facebook a few months ago, but it wouldn’t accept her birth date. Then I tried again and just put in 101, and it accepted it for the timeline, even though she was 104 … Now on Facebook it says she’s 102 when, in reality, she’s 105.”
Segura Metzgar joined Facebook in August and now has 86 friends who are strictly relatives and friends of hers.
