Silent Heroes Foundation is a 501c3 dedicated to supporting wildlife conservation and One Health in Africa, through the provision of supplies, training, and research expertise for veterinarians, rangers, and conservationists that struggle to protect Africa’s wildlife from poaching, human encroachment, and the threat of disease. The Foundation is in need of an in-kind donation of office space in the northern Virginia area.
Dr. Hayley Adams, DVM, PhD, DACVPM, DACVM, Founder and Director of Operations, has a mission to impact One Health by filling a niche she observed during her nearly two decades of working with wildlife in Africa. By utilizing the surplus of medical supplies available in the US that would otherwise go to waste, Silent Heroes provides critical care supplies to support the treatment of endangered species, as well as for domestic animals and humans in Africa, under the community health concept known as One Health medicine.
Additionally, the Foundation supports veterinary education in Africa by providing textbooks for vet students and veterinary libraries with bare shelves. Silent Heroes also offers One Health externships at their supported projects in Africa, for veterinary and medical students interested in contributing to the mission.
“The good news is our mission is growing and making a huge impact on One Health in Africa” Adams says. “The bad news is we don’t have adequate office space. We could readily utilize around 1000 square feet in the northern Virginia region.”
Individuals interested in an in-kind donation of free or discounted office space may contact Dr. Adams by calling 706-761-3793 or via email at: adams(at)thesilentheroes(dot)org. For more information about the Foundation, visit thesilentheroes.org
