PRESCOTT VALLEY, ARIZONA (PRWEB) November 05, 2012
Northcentral University’s School of Education today announced the introduction of its Education Specialist (EdS) Degree Program and Accelerated MEd track to meet the national and international needs for professionals trained in diverse specializations within the field of education. The EdS program is specifically tailored for education professionals who desire to engage in the most advanced levels of professional practice and potentially advance to doctoral studies. The Accelerated MEd track is designed for K-12 or higher education professionals with a desire to enhance their leadership capabilities and improve their skills and professionalism in a compressed amount of time.
“Northcentral is proud to offer these outstanding programs, and I believe our future education leaders will contribute significant benefit to the global community,” notes Dr. Cindy K. Guillaume, Northcentral Dean of the School of Education. “Our EdS Program will deliver continuing education with the same academic rigor our students value in our doctoral programs. Upon completion of the program, students can apply to our Doctor of Education (EdD) program with advanced standing.”
Northcentral’s EdS program offers students a chance to advance in their chosen field or to embark on a new career through a 33 credit-hour course of study in selected specializations within the School of Education. NCU’s EdS program can be tailored to meet diverse personal and professional objectives. Students in the EdS program can choose from twelve specializations including Curriculum and Teaching, E-Learning and Special Education. A complete listing can be found on the EdS degree program page.
The Accelerated MEd Track is 100% online and has the same 30‐credit requirement as the traditional MEd, but is can be completed in one year. “This new MEd track is offered in Educational Leadership for K-12 educators and in Leadership in Higher Education for higher education professionals,” notes Dr. Guillaume. “These specializations are designed to assist graduates in improving educational outcomes and meet the needs of increasingly diverse K-12 and higher education students.”
“Like it or not, severe school budget and funding challenges combined with an ever louder call for improved student performance has shifted the education industry to a performance-based work culture,” adds Dr. Guillaume . “Our responsibility is to train leaders who have the specialized education to make an even greater impact on students with fewer resources. I believe that our new offerings will prepare dynamic educators to successfully advance in this challenging, yet continually exciting and rewarding field.”
