Silicon Valley based Lean/ Agile ALM vendor Digité announced v2.3 of its Swift-Kanban tool, enhancing and introducing a number of new features including its best support yet for Enterprise/ Portfolio Kanban, Scrumban and a number of other improvements.
Enhancements to Enterprise/ Portfolio Kanban
Swift-Kanban 2.3 adds the ability for setting up enterprise level rules for how work can be broken down to smaller chunks – and thus facilitating teams to setup card-level and cross-board hierarchies more easily. Scrum teams can now setup Epics and User Stories to be tracked on different boards for better tracking ability while Kanban teams can set up more flexible board hierarchies to show cross-team dependencies and work assignments. For example, a Help-Desk ticket might have a dev component being done on a Dev board and an infrastructure component being done on a Infra board. The ticket can be decomposed into “child” or subordinate tickets that flow on the Dev and Infra boards and when they are completed, the parent card (ticket) be moved on the higher level Customer board.
Ease of Use of an Electronic Kanban tool is paramount
Amongst the many requirements of teams adopting an electronic Kanban tool such as facilitating distributed teams to collaborate on a Kanban board, automated Kanban metrics, ease of redesigning the Kanban value stream, etc., a key requirement – especially for teams moving from a physical Kanban board to an electronic board – is the ease of use of the tool.
