Veteran Resort Staff Reflect on Decades of Planning Outstanding Weddings

Weddings at the Pheasant Run Resort are a 50-year tradition.

Weddings at the Pheasant Run Resort are a 50-year tradition.

“I cannot begin to count the number of weddings we’ve hosted that are children of parents who had their receptions here 20, 30, and even 40 years ago. It is so wonderful to be part of that tradition,” said Banquet Manager Steve Meggos.

Pheasant Run Resort, renowned as a destination wedding venue, has planned thousands of weddings and receptions both large and small over the past five decades. The resort’s wedding team, consisting of three 20-year-plus veterans Executive Chef Josef Yurisich, Banquet Manager Steve Meggos, and Senior Catering Manager Debbie Fields, has worked together in a winning partnership for so long they often complete each other’s sentences. The team has planned weddings and receptions ranging from a 50-person intimate celebration to a 2,000 guest extravaganza in the resort’s convention center.

Executive Chef Josef Yurisich has seen a number of trends come and go over the years, “while our dedication and individual attention to each and every wedding couple has remained constant.”

“With so many successful years of weddings and social events, it is critical that Pheasant Run Resort stay up to date on all the current trends in the culinary arena,” he continued. “We’re proud that we stay ahead of the curve while reflecting individual tastes and style, and our brides respect and appreciate this.”

According to Senior Catering Manager Debbie Fields, the team delivers a resort experience to wedding guests while providing a great value, which results in a number of referrals. “Due to the level of expertise within our banquet and culinary teams, our reputation for creativity, and the value we are able to deliver, nearly 100% of new wedding clients are referrals.”

“It’s all about teamwork here at Pheasant Run Resort,” said Banquet Manager Steve Meggos. “We feel like a family and the guests pick up on this.”

As far as working with a winning wedding team at the resort for so long, Meggos said, “I cannot begin to count the number of weddings we’ve hosted that are children of parents who had their receptions here 20, 30, and even 40 years ago. It is so wonderful to be part of that tradition.”

To commemorate its 50th Anniversary milestone early next year, the resort has recently launched a wedding promotion. Wedding couples who book at the resort prior to December 31, 2012 may qualify for a complimentary New Year’s Eve Package for two or a complimentary Rehearsal Diner (or alternative Sunday Brunch) for up to 25 guests. Other terms and conditions apply; prospective wedding couples may contact Pheasant Run Resort at 1-800-4PHEASANT for more information about these and other special wedding packages.
