Gary Purpura has joined TaxOps as managing partner of the tax firm’s new Stamford, Conn., office. He specializes in helping partnerships and corporations develop tax strategies and minimize tax exposure. His tax and legal background lends an in-depth understanding of the rules and business agreements that dictate tax treatment in a variety of industries including real estate, biotechnology, media, communications, private equity and venture capital.

Mr. Purpura and an exceptional TaxOps team will be reaching out to businesses that want to enhance their business success. “I am focused on building collaborative working relationships that drive strong results,” he says. Mr. Purpura is uniquely experienced in handling accounting method reviews, tax deferrals, debt workouts, and business acquisition, spin-off, liquidation, and exit strategies. He has also represented several clients in IRS and state and local tax controversies.

Previously, Mr. Purpura was a lead tax partner with Ernst & Young for Fortune 500, middle-market and entrepreneurial clients. The Stamford, Conn., office is the first out-of-state venture for TaxOps. The opening of the New England office is happening in conjunction with several other planned openings in major cities such as Phoenix and Salt Lake City. The expansion is the result of the firm’s success in meeting the complex tax needs of dynamic businesses nationwide. “Customized client solutions and a value-based business model have made TaxOps one of the fastest growing professional services firms in the nation,” CEO and Founder Brian Amann says. TaxOps is the #1 ranked small firm in the 2012 Accounting Today’s Top 100 Best Accounting Firms to Work For and listed on the Inc. 5000 as one of the Fastest Growing Private Companies in America.
