stay informed of medical advances, understand your situation and then take action to end the disease and get on with your life
Huntington, NY (PRWEB) November 07, 2012
Craig Johnson encourages readers to “…stay informed of medical advances, understand your situation and then take action to end the disease and get on with your life” in his book, “My Prostate Cancer Adventure and the Lessons Learned” (published by iUniverse),
Johnson recounts his experiences from the time he learned he had cancer throughout the first year of his recovery after prostatectomy surgery,. He maintains a light hearted humor in the telling of his story which stems from successfully fighting the disease. Johnson tells readers about the various procedures that were available to him, and justifies his selection of robotic surgery, although he is quick to point out that surgery is not necessarily for everyone. Johnson acknowledges he is not a doctor, but after conducting his own research, in addition to his own first-hand experiences, he hopes to help others by telling his story using a candid non-technical approach.
An excerpt from “My Prostate Cancer Adventure and the Lessons Learned”:
“I found adult diapers very uncomfortable, but absorbent underwear and pads were definitely preferable. None of these absorbent undergarments are as comfortable as regular underwear. When it comes to my crotch, I’m all about comfort, so I had a real incentive to regain control of my urinary functions. I started working at it the day the catheter was removed. What the heck, I needed a hobby anyway.”
